Biography
Mark Damian is a drummer based out of the Detroit area. Making frequent appearances on various recordings and keeping an incessant live performance regimen with popular acts Damian has built a diverse musical background resulting in a reputation as a well respected, sought out drummer.
Over the years versatility has become a strong attribute in his playing. Picking up the sticks at age three, performing for audiences by age nine, and recording in studios by fourteen, Damian has been involved in a range of musical genres including pop, rock, alternative, progressive, electronic, industrial, jazz, blues, country, and R&B. Aside from his main role as a drummer Mark plays bass, keyboard instruments, guitar, and sings.
Notable recordings in Damian’s catalog include “In The Round” from Laith Al-Saadi, “Adjusted” from sweatysuedelips, earning two Detroit Music Awards in the industrial category and a third nomination, “The Chrome Recordings” from TCR featuring Robin Moulder (Jack Off Jill) and Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Tweaker), and “Lowercase Fire Engine” from Cleanse, an original project with co-founding member Ken Roberts (Charm Farm, Control Freq, SSL). The Cleanse project, formulated to satisfy interests in more avant-garde avenues of music, helped to ignite the creation of their studio and production company Trig Media, producing and recording not only their own material but that of other artists as well.
Mark continues to perform on stages both big and small. Whether it’s jazzin’ out for 50 at the local martini lounge or rockin’ out for 15,000 on the national stage Mark is happy to be on the gig. With the sort of work ethic and passion for music that Damian possesses, any band he’s gigging with is happy to have him. One artist in particular is guitar virtuoso and soulful singer Laith Al-Saadi. During the last four years they have played for thousands headlining venues, performing on live TV and radio shows, and warming up the stage for classic acts like Leon Russell, the Yardbirds, Mountain, Ten Years After, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and many more.
Between recording sessions and live performances Damian teaches music as a private drum instructor taking on students in different age groups and levels of study in the Ann Arbor and metro Detroit areas of Michigan.
