BIO

Mark Damian is a professional drummer, multi-instrumentalist, music producer based in Los Angeles available for touring, recording sessions, and instruction.
After receiving a drum kit as a gift at age three Mark Damian has devoted his entire life to music. He has made his living playing drums throughout the mid-west and now the west coast for a number bands, solo artists, composers, and DJ’s.
LIVE
Having averaged almost 200 live performances a year Mark’s sense of time, musical instincts, and vocal harmonizing abilities are nothing short of pro. Laying down a solid foundation while tastefully picking his moments to add a bit of “ear candy” for the audience his versatility allows him to be a great fit for performance situations requiring structure and attention to detail like playing to loops, backing tracks or sequences as well as more organic situations where tempos must breathe and improvisational skills are an appropriate approach.
STUDIO
An excellent choice as a hired touring drummer and backing vocalist Damian’s understanding of the studio environment keeps him busy as a session player as well. He’s a multi-instrumentalist playing drums, bass, keyboards, and guitar and has quite the knack for arranging lush vocal harmonies. Mark is fluent in both industry standard recording software programs Logic Pro and Pro Tools and is co-founder of Trig Media, a company started in 2006 with Ken Roberts, where he’s employed to engineer, produce, mix or simply collaborate with other artists.
Mark’s drumming can also be heard on a number of recordings including “Adjusted” from sweatysuedelips. SSL caused much excitement on the Detroit music scene in the early 2000’s with a high energy, yet moody live show and an edgy song writing style that would earn them two consecutive Detroit Music Awards in the industrial category and a third year nomination. “The Chrome Recordings” from alt-metal band TCR featured Robin Moulder (Jack Off Jill) and production by Chris Vrenna of Nine Inch Nails and Tweaker fame. “Lowercase Fire Engine” from Cleanse is an original project with co-founding member Ken Roberts (Charm Farm, Control Freq, SSL). The project was formulated to fulfill interests in more avant-garde avenues of music with a heavy influence from artists like David Sylvian and Bryan Ferry. They continue to write and record new material. Guitar virtuoso and blues hero Laith Al-Saadi featured Damian on drums for his sophomore release “In The Round” as well as his live shows from 2005 to 2011. Indie artist Chris Bathgate also called on Damian to play on his 2nd record “Salt Year”.
INSTRUCTION
As a private drum instructor for over 15 years Damian currently teaches in the Los Angeles area working with aspiring as well as experienced drummers on stick technique, groove studies, chart reading, and a variety of other exercises to achieve the student’s personal goals.
